The map below depicts which states house a Prescription Drug Monitoring Program. By clicking on a state with a PDMP, you will gain access to contact information for that state’s PDMP and substance abuse treatment system (Single State Agency), as well as contact information for the Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC) Regional Center that provides services for that state.
On these pages you will also find informative profiles about these state systems. The profiles were developed from interviews conducted by the ATTC National Office with executives at each state’s PDMP and substance abuse treatment system. The profiles include information about each agency’s structure, focus areas, contact information, workforce development initiatives and state drug trends. We believe that collaboration by all the stakeholders involved in fighting prescription drug abuse is crucial. Ultimately, each system is working toward the same goal: to alleviate prescription drug abuse.

As of November 2006, 33 states had enacted legislation, which required prescription drug monitoring programs: 25 of those programs are currently operating and eight are in the start-up phase.
Fifteen additional states are in the process of proposing, preparing, or considering legislation. These states include, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Kansas, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Oregon, and South Dakota.
